03/23/2010

HAUPPAUGE, NY and LAS VEGAS, NV (March 23, 2010) – Personal Communications Devices, LLC (PCD), a leading provider of technology products to wireless carriers in North and South America, is showcasing a wide range of devices and technologies at CTIA Wireless 2010 (Booth #2406). In addition to its array of wireless devices, PCD will be displaying its line of Merca-trax devices.

“PCD is pleased to showcase a wide range of the latest in wireless technology at CTIA 2010. We continue to grow our portfolio with a diverse range of devices, including smartphones, netbooks and asset tracking devices to meet the needs of the market,” noted Philip Christopher, President and CEO of PCD.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Ruggedized Devices for Work and Play. PCD’s line of ruggedized devices will be on display, including the Casio® G’zOne Brigade™, a horizontal clamshell with a full QWERTY keyboard. These military spec devices (MIL-STD-810F) are resistant to water, shock, dust, vibration, humidity, high and low temperature storage and more.
  • World Class Machine to Machine (M2M) and Mobile Tracking Devices. The CMA8110BK, the company’s first device in its planned Merca-trax line of devices, provides world-class GPS and wide area tracking and monitoring. Merca-trax devices are powered by Qualcomm’s inGeo™ platform, which provides unique hibernation capability and best-in-class operation and standby time.
  • Portable and Lightweight Netbook. PCD’s first netbook, the X220, is a lightweight, Wi-Fi enabled computing device with a built-in webcam and a rotatable touch screen that accepts handwritten input. The X220, which is currently available for sales to carriers, can be customized with either a 3G EVDO or 3G HSDPA module to meet specific needs.

Featured Technology Demonstrations

In late 2009, PCD announced its Advanced Device Division, which was formed to strengthen PCD’s position as a leader in wireless technology. At CTIA 2010, PCD’s Advanced Device Division will be hosting demonstrations from several technology leaders.

  • The Kodak Pulse Digital Frame is a touch-screen-enabled frame equipped with Wi-Fi™ connectivity and a personal email address so consumers can easily send pictures wirelessly to the frame from any device that has email capability, including a Casio Brigade or Droid Eris by HTC.
  • CyWee will demonstrate how its real-time wireless video streaming and motion-sensing technologies can be used in mobile devices to create a mobile console. Content on a mobile device, such as photos, videos, movies, music, websites, games and other mobile applications, can be streamed wirelessly to HDTV in 1080p resolution. Simultaneously, the mobile device can be used as a wireless gesture-based 3D controller to interact with the content and play video games.
